Volleyball Game Preview: West Covina Bulldogs vs. South El Monte Eagles

The West Covina Bulldogs are taking a road trip to challenge the South El Monte Eagles at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. South El Monte took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Covina, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, West Covina turned things around against Covina on Thursday. They blew past the Colts 3-0. The Bulldogs not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th.

West Covina not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Covina between 13 and 16 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-16, 25-13.

Meanwhile, South El Monte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain View.

The 3-1 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by two points or less. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 27-25, 28-26.

South El Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for West Covina, their win bumped their record up to 6-19.

West Covina beat South El Monte 2-0 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
