Softball Recap: Northwestern Tigers vs. Ashland Oredockers

Northwestern put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ashland Oredockers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Northwestern considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Ellie Peterson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Peterson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive pitching appearances. Peterson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Karly Nichols and Emma Wennersten did most of the damage at the plate: Nichols scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Wennersten went 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Finley Peterson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Northwestern's win bumped their record up to 16-6-1. As for Ashland, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.
