Two dominant backs in Zachary Quieroz and Connor Malin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. After each having a week off, the Foran Lions and the Law Lawmen will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. Foran has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 116 points over their last three games.

Last Friday, Foran made easy work of Branford and carried off a 32-7 win. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 26.6 points per game.

Quieroz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Foran is 3-1 when Quieroz posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Lefebvre, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.

Foran was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 262 rushing yards in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Law didn't have quite enough to beat Shelton last Friday and fell 17-14. The Lawmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Law saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Malin, who rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all.

Law wouldn't let Shelton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Law can thank Shane Hanson and Nicholas Cosmas for forcing both of them. Cosmas is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least seven every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Shelton's side was Michael Smith, who made ten total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.

Foran now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Law, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-4.

Thursday's contest might be decided in the on the ground. Foran has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Law struggles in that department as they've been averaging 160.9. It's looking like Thursday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
