Baseball Recap: Wesley Chapel Takes Down Lincoln in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wesley Chapel walked away with it. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Lincoln Trojans on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Aiden Nguyen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Dylan Pabon was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Wesley Chapel's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 12-14 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of JoJo Guevara, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

Wesley Chapel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lincoln only posted an OBP of .333.

Wesley Chapel pushed their record up to 19-14 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 24-11.

As of now, neither Wesley Chapel nor the Trojans have any future games scheduled.
