Baseball Game Preview: Woodford County Yellowjackets vs. Spencer County Bears

Woodford County is 8-1 against Spencer County since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will head out to square off against the Bears at 5:45 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Woodford County 3.7, Spencer County 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Woodford County took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mercer County, sneaking past 2-1. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won three in a row.

Jb Martin was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jackson Irvin also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Spencer County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Perry County Central on Thursday.

Spencer County pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Woodford County, their victory bumped their record up to 18-9.

Woodford County took their win against Spencer County when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-5 score. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
