Softball Recap: Monte Vista Has No Trouble Against San Rafael

Monte Vista never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against the San Rafael Bulldogs as the Monte Vista Mustangs made off with a 7-0 win. The matchup marked the Mustangs' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Kaysi Patel tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Leyden, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Cece Kong also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Monte Vista lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Monte Vista's record is now 3-1. As for San Rafael, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monte Vista will host Carondelet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carondelet is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for San Rafael, they will face off against Alameda at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Rafael also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.4 runs per game.
