Softball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Everett Alvarez Eagles

The North Salinas Vikings will square off against the Everett Alvarez Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Wednesday, North Salinas came up short against Palma and fell 7-2.

Meanwhile, Everett Alvarez came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Chieftains. Three seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Dani Amendola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Michelle Wallace was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Everett Alvarez's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for North Salinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
