Softball Recap: Haverford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Haverford, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Harriton Rams on Tuesday. The Fords might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by nine runs or more this season.

Olivia Carter made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maya Hubley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot, having also posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Brenna Carfrey, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Haverford is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Harriton, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Haverford is set to face off against their familiar foe Strath Haven at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Harriton will take on rival Garnet Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
