Football Recap: Cornerstone Christian Beats Calvary Baptist for Their Seventh Straight Victory

Cornerstone Christian won the last time they faced Calvary Baptist and things went their way on Friday too. The Crusaders claimed a resounding 61-6 victory over the Cougars. Considering the Crusaders have won five matchups by more than 48 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Cornerstone Christian was led to victory by Matthew Huffman and Dylan Kelly. Huffman rushed for 208 yards and three scores on only 13 carries, while Kelly rushed for 125 yards and one TD on only ten carries. With that strong performance, Huffman is now averaging an impressive 113.8 rushing yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Lewin, who picked up 82 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Cornerstone Christian didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Calvary Baptist to a completion percentage of just 50%. The team can thank Lewin for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cornerstone Christian wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 100%.

Cornerstone Christian's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up eight sacks. Mason Sanchez and Caleb Davis were the leaders of the group effort as each produced three apiece. Joshua Aderhold has been hot for a while, having posted at least one sack the last ten times he's played. Kelly got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win keeps Cornerstone Christian at an undefeated 7-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.7 points on average this season. As for Calvary Baptist, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
