Basketball Game Preview: Maquoketa Valley Wildcats vs. Cedar Valley Christian Huskies

After both having extra time off, the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats and the Cedar Valley Christian Huskies will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Maquoketa Valley's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Cedar Valley Christian has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Last Friday, Maquoketa Valley took a blow against North Linn, falling 65-34. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Lynx are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Cedar Valley Christian scored the most points they've had this season last Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 80-62 bruising from Wapsie Valley. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (56), the Huskies still had to take the loss.

Maquoketa Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Cedar Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Maquoketa Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Cedar Valley Christian in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, winning 56-45. Does Maquoketa Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cedar Valley Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
