Betsy Layne hadn't done well against Shelby Valley recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bobcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over the Wildcats. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since April 28, 2025.

Betsy Layne's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-16. As for Shelby Valley, they dropped their record down to 9-12-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Betsy Layne will welcome Phelps at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shelby Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Letcher County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
