Football Game Preview: Sarasota Christian Blazers vs. Gateway Charter Griffins

The Sarasota Christian Blazers will challenge the Gateway Charter Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Sarasota Christian and five for Gateway Charter.

Sarasota Christian is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Seffner Christian on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Blazers were outmatched by the Crusaders and fell 48-14. The Blazers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.

Although Sarasota Christian took the loss, they still got scores from Colton Loftus and Travis Miller.

Meanwhile, Gateway Charter took a blow against Boca Raton Christian on Friday, falling 41-8.

Sarasota Christian will have to keep a close watch on Michael Walker and Lenile Deems, a pair of players who had a big impact on Gateway Charter's prior game. Walker rushed for 126 yards on only 13 carries, while Deems picked up 106 receiving yards and one score. Deems' longest reception was for an incredible 74 yards.

Gateway Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Sarasota Christian, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Sarasota Christian beat Gateway Charter 33-26 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Blazers repeat their success, or do the Griffins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
