Game recap: George Walton Academy High School Football Team bests Prince Avenue Christian

MONROE, Ga. - George Walton Academy (Monroe, Ga.) had its advantage, which at one point stood at 10 points, drop to three before the final whistle blew on a 17-14 victory over Prince Avenue Christian (Athens, Ga.).

After taking the lead on a Carl Mattox touchdown run, the Wolverines went into halftime with a 7-3 lead. The Bulldogs took the lead for good with a Stanley Williams touchdown run in the third quarter.

Prince Avenue Christian's Mattox played well. He ran for two touchdowns.

George Walton Academy's most effective player was Williams. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 18 touchdowns on the season.

GWA came into the game allowing 17.4 points per game.



The Monroe school got revenge for last year's 21-10 loss to PAC with the victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Prince Avenue Christian, which notched a 50-34 victory over Pinecrest Academy in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Athens school's 3-game winning streak.
