Basketball Recap: Seguin Comes Up Short on the Road Against Victoria East

Seguin had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Victoria East Titans by a score of 49-46 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Matadors have suffered since December 28, 2024.

Despite the loss, Seguin still got an impressive performance from Jay Menchaca, who shot 67% from the field on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Hernandez, who posted three points and four steals.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seguin will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Long Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Victoria East, they will welcome Carroll at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
