Baseball Recap: Munster Find Success

The Munster Mustangs earned a 9-6 win over the Stagg Chargers on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.

Ed Kicho looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Munster is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Nick Crowley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Munster is undefeated when Crowley posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Danny Schassburger, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Munster's victory bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Stagg, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-18 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Munster will square off against Hammond Central at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season. As for Stagg, they will take on Morgan Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
