Baseball Recap: North Comes Up Short

North extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 1-10. They lost 14-2 to the St. Bernard's Central Catholic Bernardians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Polar Bears of the 8-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

North saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Auguster Speight, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Considering they have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On St. Bernard's Central Catholic's side, Caden Laverdiere made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. Laverdiere has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Angelo Barry was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Austin Gibbons, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, North will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Paul at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Bernard's Central Catholic, they will challenge Blackstone-Millville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
