Basketball Game Preview: Monte Vista Mustangs vs. Dublin Gaels

Monte Vista is 0-10 against Dublin since January of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Monte Vista Mustangs will head out to challenge the Dublin Gaels at 7:30 p.m. Monte Vista will be strutting in after a win while Dublin will be coming in after a defeat.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Monte Vista beat Foothill 60-56. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Falcons are ranked 360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Dublin was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 53-49 to De La Salle. The loss continues a trend for the Gaels in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now lost five in a row.

Monte Vista has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Dublin, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3.

Monte Vista came up short against Dublin when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 55-44. Can Monte Vista avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
