Baseball Recap: Everett Alvarez Takes a Loss

Everett Alvarez had lost six straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it seven. They fell 8-3 to the North Monterey County Condors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 7-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Everett Alvarez saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cody Victoriano, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

As for North Monterey County, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games.

On North Monterey County's side, Jered Kallenberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. Kallenberger has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Greg Jimenez was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Cruz, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

While Everett Alvarez had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
