Softball Recap: Merritt Island Christian Has No Trouble Against Master's Academy

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Merritt Island Christian walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Master's Academy Patriots on Tuesday. Considering the Cougars have won five games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Shae Janke, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grace Ebert, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Merritt Island Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 2-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Merritt Island Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Master's Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-5 record.

Looking ahead, Merritt Island Christian will face off against Morningside Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Master's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
