Softball Recap: Mission Veterans Memorial Has No Trouble Against Juarez-Lincoln

After losing to Juarez-Lincoln the last time they met, Mission Veterans Memorial decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Huskies on Tuesday. Considering the Patriots have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Guerrero Marla made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carolina De La Rosa, who scored five runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Evoria Garcia, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.

Mission Veterans Memorial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Mission Veterans Memorial and bumps their season record up to 10-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Mission Veterans Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Juarez-Lincoln, they will challenge Nixon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
