Baseball Game Preview: Campolindo Cougars vs. Casa Grande Gauchos

The Campolindo Cougars will be taking part in a tournament against the Casa Grande Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Campolindo 3.1, Casa Grande 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Campolindo's tournament run continued when they took on Berkeley on Tuesday. The Cougars walked away with a 5-2 win over the Yellowjackets.

Meanwhile, Casa Grande was not the first on the board on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They blew past Las Lomas 8-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gauchos.

The team relied heavily on Danny Mercado, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Brayden Garibaldi was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Casa Grande hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Lomas struck out eight times.

Campolindo has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Casa Grande, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.

Campolindo was able to grind out a solid victory over Casa Grande in their previous meeting back in March of 2017, winning 10-5. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gauchos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
