Recap: Wisner-Pilger Gators vs. Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars

While it was all tied up 26-26 at halftime, the Wisner-Pilger Gators were not quite the Lyons-Decatur Northeast Cougars's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 63-61. Wisner-Pilger's loss continues an unfortunate trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Lyons-Decatur Northeast's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Hardin, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Hardin is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Brayden Hegge, who almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine rebounds.

Wisner-Pilger's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-11.

Wisner-Pilger will be playing at home against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Wisner-Pilger will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Laurel-Concord-Coleridge is ranked 129th). As for Lyons-Decatur Northeast, they will head out on the road to take on East Butler on Friday. Hopefully Lyons-Decatur Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
