Basketball Recap: Desert Heights Prep Takes a Loss

Desert Heights Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were outmatched by the San Pasqual Valley Warriors and fell 71-18. If the Yote were looking for revenge after losing 59-26 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

San Pasqual Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyla Emerson out in front who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards. With that strong performance, Emerson is now averaging an impressive 16.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Daeja Villicana, who posted 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists.

Desert Heights Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for San Pasqual Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.

When Desert Heights Prep and San Pasqual Valley next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Desert Heights Prep will try to stop North Phoenix Preparatory Academy's four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, San Pasqual Valley will challenge Kofa and their four-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
