Meanwhile, Rancho Cotate beat Piner 4-1  on Saturday. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for the Cougars.
Rancho Cotate also got a great performance from  Aiden O'Sullivan as he  struck out seven batters over  six innings while giving up just one earned run off   three  hits. Those  seven  strikeouts gave  O'Sullivan a new career-high.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Jeremiah Olvera, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3.  Jonah Kaltenbach also deserves some recognition as  he  scored his first  run of the season.
 Maria Carrillo has  traveled a rocky road recently, having  lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record  this season. As for Rancho Cotate, their record is now 9-6.
 Maria Carrillo suffered a grim  12-6 defeat to Rancho Cotate  in their previous meeting  back in March. Can the Pumas avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
