Baseball Game Preview: Stagg Delta Kings vs. Bear Creek Bruins

Stagg is 2-8 against Bear Creek since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Delta Kings will head out to square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Bear Creek took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Stagg, who comes in off a win.

Stagg will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Weston Ranch on Friday. The Delta Kings came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 10-5.

Sebastian Ramirez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Michael Hutchinson and Jackson Brooks did most of the damage at the plate: Hutchinson went 1-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Brooks scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Hutchinson a new career-high. Anthony Morones was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bear Creek fell victim to Tokay and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Tigers. Considering the last time the Bruins couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Bear Creek saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Jackson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Bear Creek's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-11. As for Stagg, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Stagg suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Bear Creek when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Delta Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
