Baseball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson entered their game against Brackenridge on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Jefferson took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brackenridge. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Mustangs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Jefferson saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Urdiales, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another was Gabriel Rangel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Jefferson's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-8. As for Brackenridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-10 record this season.

Jefferson will head out on the road to square off against Edison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edison will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last. As for Brackenridge, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Brackenridge Eagles take on Highlands Owls at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. They are on a four-game streak of home losses, and Highlands a four-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck.
