Basketball Recap: Gary West Side Comes Up Short

If Gary West Side was feeling good fresh off their 77-57 takedown of Marquette Catholic last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gary West Side Cougars took a 69-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kenwood Broncos on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 92nd in Indiana, while the Broncos are ranked third in Illinois).

Gary West Side's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Kenwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.

Gary West Side will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lake Station Edison at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Kenwood and Thornton will round out the year against one another at at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kenwood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Thornton likes a good challenge.
