Basketball Recap: Dayton Comes Up Short

Dayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost to the Manville Mustangs at home by a 45-31 margin. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Dayton lost, don't look at Daniel Perez. Despite the final result, he posted ten points. What's more, Perez also posted a 57% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Matthew Ren also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Manville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Dayton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-66 victory against Koinonia Academy on the 20th. As for Manville, they will square off against Shore Regional on February 26th.
