Basketball Game Preview: Orcas Island Vikings vs. Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes

Orcas Island is 2-8 against Mount Vernon Christian since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Orcas Island Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Thursday, Orcas Island didn't have too much trouble with Lopez as they won 60-43.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They secured a 63-58 W over the Braves.

Mount Vernon Christian has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points per game. As for Orcas Island, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13.

Orcas Island came up short against Mount Vernon Christian when the teams last played back in January, falling 43-37. Can Orcas Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
