Preview: Villa Grove Blue Devils vs. LeRoy Panthers
The Villa Grove Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the LeRoy Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Villa Grove is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
Last Friday, Villa Grove really took it to Tri-County [Kansas/Shiloh/Oakland] for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-20 victory on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Villa Grove just coasted through the last quarter.
Villa Grove can attribute much of their success to Layne Rund, who rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and Gunner Cline, who rushed for 137 yards and four touchdowns on only 11 carries. Cline is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, LeRoy can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fieldcrest 56-28 at home. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for LeRoy's six-point performance the match before.
Their wins bumped Villa Grove to 6-3 and LeRoy to 8-1.
