Preview: Carver Vo-Tech Bears vs. City College Black Knights
Carver Vo-Tech is 0-4 against City College since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Carver Vo-Tech Bears will head out on the road to take on the City College Black Knights at 5:15 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Carver Vo-Tech only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 51-point they dealt Coppin Academy on Thursday. Carver Vo-Tech took their game at home with ease, bagging a 70-19 victory over Coppin Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Carver Vo-Tech.
Carver Vo-Tech's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Desmond Handon, who scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Handon has scored all season. David Ross was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, City College had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They blew past Digital Harbor, posting a 83-48 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory City College has posted against Digital Harbor since February 2, 2016.
Carver Vo-Tech pushed their record up to 10-3 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 45.53 points. As for City College, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Carver Vo-Tech ended up a good deal behind City College when the teams last played back in January of 2023, losing 72-57. Can Carver Vo-Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
