Soccer Game Preview: Briar Woods vs. Independence

Briar Woods is 1-8-1 against Independence since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons will take on Independence at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Briar Woods proved they can win big on Sunday (they won by five) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Riverside get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Independence strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Stone Bridge 5-1. Independence might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Stone Bridge with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jayden Fisher (2), Lilli Lubic, Marcela Almen, and Kimiko Zoder.

Independence's win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 63 goals over those 11 matchups. As for Briar Woods, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5-2 record this season.

Briar Woods might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Independence when the teams last played last Wednesday. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
