Centura comes up short despite Barrett Fries' dominant performance

This season hasn't been kind to the Centura Centurions, who are still winless after their ninth game. They took a hard 57-39 fall against Howells-Dodge on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Centura can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Howells-Dodge is ranked 75th).

When it comes to explaining why Centura lost, one person who can't be blamed is Barrett Fries. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Fries scored a full 33.3% of Centura's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Caden Ruhl was another key contributor, scoring seven points.

Centura's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Howells-Dodge, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Centura and Sutton will face off at 7:45 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Howells-Dodge and St. Francis will face off on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Francis has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 266 points over their last four matches.
