Baseball Recap: Kent Denver Takes a Loss

Kent Denver had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 10-11 to make it five. They came up short against the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners, falling 7-1. The Sun Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Miners from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Kent Denver saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Prospect Ridge Academy's side, Liam Schilling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Schilling was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josiah Bote, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Greyson Brady was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Prospect Ridge Academy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against Hinkley on the 10th. Hopefully Kent Denver paid attention to the Miners' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Miners at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
