Basketball Recap: Tuscola Skates Past Owen with Ease

Tuscola won the last time they faced Owen and things went their way on Friday too. The Mountaineers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Warhorses 59-29. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mountaineers.

Tuscola got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Player #0 out in front who posted seven points in addition to ten steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Williamson, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Tuscola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Owen saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aleah Myers shot 90% from the field en route to 21 points and three steals.

Tuscola's record now sits at 2-0. As for Owen, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tuscola will host Enka at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountaineers will need to watch out since the Jets have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Owen, they will be playing at home against R-S Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
