Baseball Recap: Bluejacket Takes a Loss

Copan hit Bluejacket with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chieftains fell 5-2 to the Hornets. The loss continues a trend for the Chieftains in their meetings with the Hornets: they've now lost eight in a row.

Bluejacket saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Shaffer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Shaffer is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

Bluejacket now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Copan, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-7.

Coming up, Bluejacket will challenge Paden on Thursday. As for Copan, they will head out on the road to square off against Fairland at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.27 runs per game on average), something the Hornets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
