Softball Recap: Hueneme Takes a Loss

Hueneme lost against Pacifica back in May of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Hueneme came up short against Pacifica, falling 16-8. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Deisi Gonzalez and Aliyana Vargas stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez scored two runs while going 4-for-5, while Vargas scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Vargas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Citlalli (CC) Cardoso-Lopez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Hueneme kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 10.4.

Hueneme's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Pacifica, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hueneme will take on Nordhoff at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hueneme is facing Nordhoff at the right time seeing as Nordhoff is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pacifica, they will face off against Dos Pueblos at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
