Football Recap: Brooks Albright's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chatham Central over East Columbus + How To Watch

Chatham Central came into this matchup off a tough 42-point defeat last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the East Columbus Gators by a score of 22-20 on Friday. While the Bears had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Gators 14-8.

Chatham Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooks Albright, who threw for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 59 yards on only seven carries. Albright didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass. Nicholas Glover was in the mix too, providing Chatham Central with two TDs.

East Columbus was led to victory by Dawson Crosby and Christian Norton. Crosby rushed for 109 yards and one score on only 12 carries, while Norton rushed for 87 yards and one touchdown. Those 109 rushing yards gave Crosby a new career-high.

Chatham Central dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. As for East Columbus, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Chatham Central is taking a road trip to square off against North Moore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Columbus, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Whiteville at 7:00 p.m.
