Soccer Recap: Parkland Takes a Loss

If Parkland was feeling good fresh off their 5-2 takedown of Andress last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Horizon Scorpions who were credited with the victory on Saturday. The Horizon Scorpions got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Parkland Matadors' three. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Matadors came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Scorpions are ranked 353rd).

Esteban Ibarra-Carrillo and Juan Armando Roberto Roque scored both of Parkland's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

The loss snapped Parkland's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-2-1 record. As for Horizon, they moved to 4-5-1 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Hanks the next time they take the pitch. Horizon will head out to face Hanks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Parkland will host them at 10:30 a.m. on February 1st.
