Softball Recap: Lexington Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Lexington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over Hardin County on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for Lexington, who have now won 14 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Lauren Johnson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 26 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kk Simko and Carly Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Simko got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Williams went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Williams has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kennady Maness, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lexington's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 26-12-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hardin County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
