Baseball Recap: Madison-Ridgeland Academy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Jackson Academy

There's no place like home for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Jackson Academy Raiders by a score of 8-3 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Patriots: when they faced off against the Raiders last Tuesday, they had to take a 6-2 defeat.

Alex Lambert and JP Murphy did most of the damage at the plate: Lambert scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Murphy got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI Murphy has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Swanson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy pushed their record up to 14-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Jackson Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-8 record this season.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Jackson Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
