Baseball Game Preview: Lake Central Indians vs. De La Salle Meteors

The Lake Central Indians will square off against the De La Salle Meteors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Central has 19 straight victories, De La Salle has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lake Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Michigan City a 23-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Indians have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke O'Keefe looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lake Central got a massive performance out of Keegan O'Bryan, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. O'Bryan is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Ryder Fernandez was another key player, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Lake Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Michigan City only posted a batting average of .118.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for De La Salle's offense. They came up short against Providence Catholic on Wednesday, falling 19-0.

Lake Central pushed their record up to 10-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for De La Salle, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-11.
