Softball Recap: Middle Creek Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Middle Creek's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Cary Imps. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by seven runs or more this season.

Hailey Hoeft made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Middle Creek got a massive performance out of Kristen Norton, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Norton a new career-high. Madelyn Herndon was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Middle Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Middle Creek is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cary, their defeat was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14.

Coming up, Middle Creek will head out to face off against Apex at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cary, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Imps' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
