Myrtle was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Strayhorn on Monday. The Hawks were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Mustangs. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 17 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
JJ Hall looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Myrtle got a big performance out of Kaleb Thomas, who scored three runs and stole four bases. Those four stolen bases gave Thomas a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Stanton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Myrtle has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Strayhorn, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-14.
