Basketball Game Preview: Central Chargers vs. Southwest Patriots

The Central Chargers are taking a road trip to challenge the Southwest Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Central will be strutting in after a win while Southwest will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Central got the win against Northeast by a conclusive 50-24. The Chargers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Southwest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 45-24 to Academy for Classical Education. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 426th, while the Gryphons are ranked 130th).

Despite the defeat, Southwest saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jamiriah Newsome went 6 of 10 en route to 13 points.

Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for Southwest, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Everything came up roses for Central against Southwest in their previous matchup on Tuesday, as the team secured a 66-19 victory. In that contest, Central amassed a halftime lead of 33-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
