Football Recap: San Diego Starts off Right with Win over Montgomery + How To Watch

San Diego took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Montgomery Aztecs 22-0. The win continues a trend for the Cavers in their matchups with the Aztecs: they've now won four in a row.

San Diego was led to victory by Jayden Harris and Kevin Shields. Harris threw for 317 yards and two TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, while Shields rushed for 84 yards and one score on only seven carries. What's more, Harris racked up 134 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024.

San Diego's run defense was locked in: Montgomery could only muster 2.5 yards per carry. While two picked up at least 11 total tackles, Xavier Wilson stood above the rest. He picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles. San Diego didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.9.

San Diego will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Otay Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on September 5. As for Montgomery, they are taking a road trip to face off against El Capitan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
