Softball Game Preview: Hamilton Aggies vs. Carbon Hill Bulldogs

The Hamilton Aggies will take on the Carbon Hill Bulldogs in a tournament on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Hamilton: 4.1, Carbon Hill: 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

On Thursday, Hamilton came up short against Curry and fell 8-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Aggies in their meetings with the Yellowjackets: they've now lost three in a row.

Brilyn Gilstrap made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Rose Bartlett, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carbon Hill ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Gordo by a score of 11-7. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now won seven in a row.

Ella Hyde spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Brittany Parker was a standout: she scored a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taygen Dozier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Carbon Hill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Carbon Hill's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Hamilton, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything went Hamilton's way against Carbon Hill in their previous meeting on Monday, as Hamilton made off with a 10-1 win. Does Hamilton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carbon Hill turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
