Football Recap: Grant Boyd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pike Central over South Spencer

Pike Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 41-33 to the South Spencer Rebels. Despite 67 more yards than the Rebels, the Chargers couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Several Chargers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Boyd, who rushed for 97 yards and two TDs, and also picked up 67 receiving yards. Carson Wiscaver was another key player, having thrown for 281 yards and two touchdowns.

South Spencer's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tate Schulte, who picked up 89 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Schulte also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making two total tackles and defending two passes. Another player making a difference was Jaycek Miller, who threw for 196 yards and three TDs.

Pike Central's record now sits at 0-7. As for South Spencer, their record is now 2-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pike Central will venture away from home to square off against Tecumseh at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for South Spencer, they will head out to face off against North Central at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
