Baseball Game Preview: Coventry Comets vs. Fairless Falcons

The Coventry Comets will challenge the Fairless Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Coventry has now lost 15 straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 12.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Coventry and Ravenna have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Comets came up short against the Ravens, falling 12-2.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairless, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They came out on top against Strasburg-Franklin by a score of 7-2 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Carter Samaco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Mike Ritterbeck was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Lucas Peters was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

With the win, Fairless broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-8. As for Coventry, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-20.

Coventry came out on top in a nail-biter against Fairless in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
