Volleyball Game Preview: Lee Vining Tigers vs. Trona Tornadoes

Lee Vining and Trona are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2021, but not for long. The Tigers will host the Tornadoes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Lee Vining came up short against Immanuel Christian and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost three in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20.

Despite the defeat, Lee Vining saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ember Elits had 11 kills and two aces. Elits also set a new season-high mark in assists with 27. Another player making a difference was Grace Gain, who had 14 assists.

Meanwhile, Trona also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Lone Pine by a score of 3-1.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-22, 19-25, 25-13.

Lee Vining's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Trona, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-1.

Lee Vining was able to grind out a solid win over Trona when the teams last played back in September, winning 3-1. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Tornadoes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
